Per Todd Zolecki, the Phillies will announce the lifting of the interim tag on Ryne Sandberg and he will be manager for the forseable future. Since Sandberg has taken over, they have gone 17-16 and for the most part have played better baseball even in the losses. This Mets series seems a good example where they lost the games but played pretty good ball despite it. They still got timely hits and made rallies and even seemed like they could have been in the game last night before rain ultimately won. I think it's the right move personally. Sandberg has gotten alot out of his younger players and even some of the veterans like Jimmy Rollins who seemed to be playing on cruise control, turned it up a notch. It'll be interesting to see how the staff shapes up in the offseason and what kind of team is put together around the current one. Former Phillies player and manager Larry Bowa is already rumored to be in the mix on Sandberg's staff.
