It was announced last night that Kyle Kendrick will be shut down for the remainder of the 2013 season after a second opinion. It appears precautionary as Kendrick, at 182, has reached a career high in innings pitched. He started off really strong this season but a dreadful second half leaves him at 10-13, 4.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 110 Ks, and 47 BBs. Deeper stats show his FIP is 4.01 and xFIP is 4.15 but his WAR is at a career high at 1.7.

We all know there is a decision to be made on Kyle Kendrick who at the moment is still under club control but is a non-tender candidate as well. Until now one thing he had in his favor was his durability and the fact that he could make all his starts. He's overall been fairly mediocre during his career but has kept the club in a lot of games as well. Between him and Halladay, there are some tough decisions to be made on who wears or doesn't wear a Phillies uniform. It's probably not both. Now it may not be either.
