For all the flaws of this season, the Phillies have found a way to make the past week quite exciting. The games are fun, even the 18 inning marathon that they eventually dropped to the Diamondbacks was full of goodies that baseball junkies like myself eat up. They're on a fairly nice run lately. Now they head to New York for four games against the Mets.

Cliff Lee takes the mound coming off another great start in last week's 4-3 win against Colorado.  The Mets have hid the skids a bit lately losing their last four games. Their staff phenom Matt Harvey got hit around a bit on Saturday and according to reports, underwent an MRI today for what we now know is a torn elbow ligament. He will be placed on the DL obviously. Their second stud pitching prospect goes tonight.

Zack Wheeler has settled into major league play pretty well after a bit of a shaky start. In twelve starts, he holds a 3.49 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 62 Ks, 32 BBs in 69.2 innings pitched.

Roger Bernadina appears to have claimed everyday centerfield duties for the time being thanks to some clutch hits and exceptional defense. While many kind of jeered at the signing it's nice to see what the Phillies have in Bernadina which is a pretty nice extra outfielder. Domonic Brown sits again and Darin Ruf mans leftfield while John Mayberry has right.
