Ethan Martin looks to improve on his major league debut his afternoon against the Cubs. We definitely got a nice glimpse of what the hype is about in his major league debut. He looks to avoid a big inning against a Cubs line up that is not quite as slug happy as Atlanta but still pretty good.
Jeff Samardzija goes for the Cubs. He stits at 6-10 with a 3.78 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 155 strike outs, and 59 walks. Samardzija has become a very consistant starter since doing so full time last season. His season is very Hamels like. He has pretty solid numbers all around but not the run support.
Kenvin Frandsen starts at first for Michael Young who rests today with hamstring tightness. Young cleared waivers this morning so he is a trade candidate once again. My guess is there is a good bet he's dealt. Though now that Alex Rodriguez has returned to the Yankees, I'm not sure he brings in whatever his haul would have been if Amaro had agreed to deal him at the non-waiver deadline.
Cody Asche returns from his night off to play third. Darin Ruf is back in right field. Jimmy Rollins gets a blow today and will be replaced by Michael Martinez.
