Dan Meyer ,who had a brief stint with the Phillies in Spring Training in 2011, is among those who isn't exactly thrilled with the news of Antonio Bastardo's connection to Biogenesis and suspension today. He tweeted the following:
Now in all honesty, I'm not sure Meyer ever had much of a shot to win a job against Bastardo in 2011 spring training but you can understand where the frustration is coming from. Meyer was coming off the last season he ever appeared in the major leagues, it was probably his last honest shot at a big league roster, and now he's not even in the game anymore.
This is what the real story is and while the players are really starting to speak up on this issue. It's one thing when superstars are up against other superstars and we're having MVP debates. It's another thing when it's players who might be in a race for a spot on a roster or even in an organization and they lose out to someone who happened to be on PEDs.
