Jimmy Rollins made it clear after the Phillies' 12-4 loss on Sunday that despite the likeliness of the dismantling of his team, he won't be moved.
"I'm not going anywhere," Rollins said to reporters this afternoon after being asked if he would consider waiving his no-trade clause to be traded to a contending team.
Rollins, 34, has 5 and 10 rights – he's been with the Phillies for more than five years and has been in the league for more than 10 years. Therefore, he has the ability to block all trades that the Phillies front office could attempt to set up.
His reason for wanting to stay?
"There are still a couple things I would like to be number one on the lists of in this organization," Rollins said, "so until those things are done, I'm not going anywhere."
So he only wants to stay for his own glory? Not to give it one more go if the Phillies are able to make the right moves before his contract runs up next year? I don't know if Rollins' priorities are in the correct order, but he's got ten years of MLB service and five with one team. He's earned the right to stay here if that's what he really wants. At this point, you couldn't get much for him in a trade anyway.
