The Chooch Train Rides Back Into Town: Carlos Ruiz Activated From Disabled List

Chooch

At a time the Phillies are in desperate need of a pick-me-up, they are getting one.  Carlos Ruiz has been activated from the disabled list.  Ruiz appeared in games Saturday and Sunday in Lehigh Valley with the Iron Pigs.  Cameron Rupp caught last night's game against the Toledo Mud Hens.   In his rehab starts, Ruiz went 1 for 5 at the plate and caught one partial game and one full game.

Ruiz has been on the disabled list since May 19 with a hamstring strain.  The move comes slightly earlier than expected.  Just Sunday, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told MLB.com's Owen Perkins that he could be back in "four or five days".  Two days later, here he is.  Perhaps the team hopes for an offensive boost to their struggling offense.  The Phillies have lost seven of their last 10 games.
