Well, another week of no progress. At one point this week, the Phillies were over .500 and in second place. They are neither now. They are 8.5 games out of first, and approaching "seller" status. Here's what this week has in front of us:
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (31-33, NL East-3) @ MINNESOTA TWINS (27-33, AL Central-4)
Where: Target Field in Minneapolis
When: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 8:10 PM
TV: CSN Monday and Tuesday, PHL 17 on Wednesday
PITCHING MATCH UPS:
Tuesday- Cole Hamels (2-9, 4.56) vs. P.J. Walter (2-1, 3.00)
Wednesday- Tyler Cloyd (2-2, 3.68) vs. Mike Pelfrey (3-6, 6.40)
Thursday- Cliff Lee (7-2, 2.55) vs. Kevin Correia (5-4, 4.11)
ON THE PHILLIES: Well, this past weekend was rotten. They went 4-3 for the week though, so I guess we shouldn't call it rotten, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Ok fine, it was rotten.
ON THE TWINS: They're a little worse than the Phillies, record wise. This despite the fact that they had a sell off this past Winter, and they started Vance Worley on Opening Day.
PREDICTION: Someone has to win two games, right? I'll say PHILLIES 2 OF 3.
PHILLIES @ COLORADO ROCKIES (34-30, NL WEST-2)
Where: Coors Field
When: Friday 8:40, Saturday and Sunday 4:10
TV: PHL 17 Friday and Sunday, CSN Saturday
PITCHING MATCH UPS:
Friday- Kyle Kendrick (6-4, 3.22) vs. Jeff Francis (2-4, 6.30)
Saturday- Jon Pettibone (3-2, 3.70) vs. Juan Nicasio (4-2, 4.61)
Sunday- Hamels vs. TBA
ON THE PHILLIES: See above.
ON THE ROCKIES: They're one of the bigger surprises in the NL to me, but temper that a bit. They did start out hot.
PREDICTION: The Rockies are a better team than the Phillies are. That will bare out here. ROCKIES 2 OF 3.
