All-Star Voting Leaders Announced: Giants, Reds, Stuff Ballots; Phillies, Domonic Brown Screwed

Domonic_Brown_First_Base

We all know that Domonic Brown is having an All-Star season.  Of course, take May out of the equation and the average fan casting a vote would have no reason to vote for Brown.   Other traditional fan voting favorites Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins are no longer among the top at their position.

Fan voting is suspiciously geared towards the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds.

Here's how it breaks down:

Outfield leaders: Justin Upton, Atlanta Braves; Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals; Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers
Next in line:  Carlos Beltran, St. Louis Cardinals; Shin Soo Choo, Cincinnati Reds; Hunter Pence, San Francisco Giants

Third Base leader: Pablo Sandoval, San Francisco Giants
Next in line: David Wright, New York Mets

Shortstop leader: Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies
Next in line: Brandon Crawford, San Francisco Giants

Second base leader: Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Reds
Next in line: Marco Scutaro, San Francisco Giants

First base leader:  Joey Votto, Cincinnati Reds
Next in line: Brandon Belt, San Francisco Giants

Catching leader: Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants
Next in line: Yadier Molina, St. Louis Cardinals

Home Run Derby:

One might think that it would make sense to have the National League's home run leader be considered for the home run derby.  Major League Baseball has something else in mind.

Fans may only pick from the following:

  • Carlos Beltran, St. Louis Cardinals
  • Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers
  • Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals
  • Jason Heyward, Atlanta Braves
  • Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants
  • Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins
  • Joey Votto, Cincinnati Reds
  • David Wright, New York Mets

Stanton, injured most of the year, will have an opportunity to appear while Domonic Brown, the National League's home run leader, has no chance at all.  Makes sense, right?

There is only one thing we can do:  VOTE HERE and vote often.  Only 35 times per email address but you and I both know full well you have 11 of them.
