Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all!
What started out as a disastrous outing for one Roy Halladay turned into an excellent game for the Phillies bullpen against the Baltimore Orioles.
In one inning, Doc allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out one before heading into the clubhouse. It was announced shortly after that Doc had been fighting a stomach virus.
In two innings, relief pitcher Zach Miner allowed just one run to score on four hits, walking one and striking out one. The run came on a Steve Pearce home run which flew right over the head of left fielder Darin Ruf. 1-0 Baltimore.
With Erik Kratz in scoring position in the bottom of the third, Ben Revere sent him home with a double, tying the ballgame. The Phils took a 2-1 lead in the next inning courtesy of a groundout from Domonic Brown which scored Ryan Howard from third.
Jeremy Horst tossed two scoreless innings to follow Zach Miner. Horst allowed one hit and struck out two.
In the bottom of the fifth, Freddy Galvis gave his team a 4-1 lead with a two-run homer to right field to score Revere. The Phils kept it going in the sixth; Brown scored on a groundout from Kratz making it a 5-1 game.
Phillippe Aumont walked two to start the sixth, but retired the side after that, striking out two. Jordan Whatcott gave up two hits and walked one in the seventh inning but did not allow a run to score.
After a scoreless frame from Colby Shreve in the eighth, Ryan O'Sullivan came in to close it out. O'Sullivan struck out one and allowed three singles before a run scored on a sac fly from Luis Exposito. L.J. Hoes doubled with two men on, sending another run home for the Orioles. With the score at 5-3, O'Sullivan got John Ruettiger to ground out, ending the ballgame.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Phillies will visit the Braves at the Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida at 1:05.
