Danny Briere scored two goals in the Flyers win over the Canadiens on March 24 last season, the last time the two teams met.
The Flyers record for the season was starting to improve. They have rebounded from an 0-3-0 start to find themselves in the lower end of the playoff picture at 6-7-1.
With 34 games left, being on the lower end of the playoff picture isn't the worst thing.
But two areas where the Flyers have struggled is on the road and against division opponents. They are 1-4 against Atlantic Division foes after last night's 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils. On the road, they are 2-7.
The Canadiens are certainly a talented team with Brian Gionta, P.K. Subban and Tomas Plekanec. Additionally, add in a rejuvenated Rene Bourque.
Both teams may be without key defensive pieces. Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen is listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury after leaving last night's game. Canadiens goalie Carey Price is out with the flu, so Peter Budaj will get the start.
The Flyers aren't the only team struggling to score goals. In three of their last five games, the Canadiens have scored one goal or no goals.
The absence of Price and Montreal's scoring struggles could be the perfect storm for the Flyers, who desperately need two points tonight.
