When you break down all the positives and negatives for this season, Cole Hamels stands out most to me. He entered the season in the final act of a contract. He was expected to test free agency and with the Phils on their way out of the playoff race at the deadline, he was on the list of candidates to be shipped out. Instead he signed an extension. It was probably the best moment of the season that the staff ace chose to stay with the team he broke in with in the middle of a dreadful run and with teams like the Dogers ready to pay up big.

He takes the mound for the final time this season in Miami against Nathan Eovaldi who the Phils have handled pretty well this season. With Ryan Howard out for the season, it's a nice opportunity to get more looks at Ruf as we are officially just playing them out now. Minor league inventory infielder Pete Orr gets assigned third base today and Nate Schierholtz is going to be at CF.

Tuesday's starter is up in the air. My money says it will be Rosenberg in a bullpen game.

Line up: Rollins 6, Pierre 7, Utley 4, Ruiz 2, Brown 9, Schierholtz 8, Ruf 3, Orr 5, Hamels 1.
