Pregame: Tyler Cloyd on the Mound for the Phillies with NO ROOM for Error.

The Cardinals shook their recent slump and are hot right now. They get Chris Carpenter back tomorrow. It almost seems at this point that if the Phillies win out, they'll fall short. That's the hole that series in Houston helped dig.

I credit them for making it interesting. We all burried the team at one point or another. Hell, I had a tweet ready to go with two outs in the 9th last night saying the season was pretty much official until Ryan Howard hit the bomb of the season. Yet even with those heroics, the season is all but a wrap. There are too many hurdles to clear with too little time. The next loss is pretty much grounds for more experiments like giving Ruf (remember Ruf?) a start or playing Utley at third.

I'm content.

Now to tonight's game. As I say, if you're going to go out, beat the Mets while you do it. They go for the sweep tonight and send Tyler Cloyd to the mound. I think Citi Field might be good for Cloyd but the key is to get the offense rolling. They need to continue what Howard started last night. Facing them is rookie Jeremy Hefner who's numbers have been pretty mediocre over all.

Line Up: Rollins SS, Pierre LF, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Mayberry CF, Brown RF, Frandsen 3B, Kratz C, Cloyd P.
