Hunter Pence was traded on July 30, about a month before his bobblehead night with the Phillies. The Phillies announced less than 24 hours later that the promotion would not be cancelled despite the trade, and Pence used that as an opportunity to thank the fans.

In addition to the bobblehead given to all fans at tonight's game, a postcard was given to fans with a message from the former Phillies' outfielder.

"Thanks, Phillies fans, for the great memories. I'm glad my Bobble Figurine will still be given out even though I'm no longer in Philadelphia. I hope it will serve as a lasting reminder of my time there. It was a year of my career I will never forget."

For weeks now, Phillies fans have joked about the fact that Pence had been dealt before his own bobblehead night. And rightfully so, because in all honesty, this promotion may be just as funny as some of the plays the Phillies have made on the field this season.

But, let's see this situation for what it is. Pence remains a classy athlete in thanking the fans. Talk about making the best of an awkward situation. So, for one last time, thanks for the memories, Hunter.
