Vance Worley Hopes to Rebound from Rough Outing in Finale Against the Cardinals as Jimmy Rollins Sits
Vance Worley's last start did not last long. Battling some stomach issues, Worley lasted just 3 2/3 innings against Atlanta on Tuesday with less-than-stellar results. Today, Worley looks to rebound and give the Phillies a series win. He will have to do so without Jimmy Rollins, who is getting a day off.
On the season, Worley is 6-7 with a 3.83 ERA.
Worley will battle Lance Lynn, a 2012 National League All-Star. Lynn was an early success starting the season 11-2, but has leveled off somewhat. In his last 10 starts, however, Lynn is 4-3 with a 4.60 ERA. All in all Lynn is now 13-5 with a 3.52 ERA.
Jimmy Rollins gets a day off for the Sunday finale. Rollins has struggled lately, hitting just .161 in his last 31 at bats. In the lineup instead will be Michael Martinez and his .135 batting average. Since Martinez was recalled by the Phillies he is hitting 1 for 7 (.142). Getting just his second start for the Phillies since the trade deadline promotion of Domonic Brown is Juan Pierre, who will lead off.
Today's Lineup:
- Pierre, LF
- Frandsen, 3B
- Utley, 2B
- Howard, 1B
- Brown, RF
- Mayberry, CF
- Kratz, C
- Martinez, SS
- Worley, P
The game will be broadcast on PHL 17, and air on 94 WIP and 1210 WPHT.
