If it was going to happen, at least it is happening now and not in a playoff run. An MRI revealed that Carlos Ruiz has a partial tear and will miss 4-6 weeks. The report, which comes via Lesley Van Arsdall of CBS3, says Ruiz will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Erik Kratz and Brian Schnider will handle the catching duties the rest of the way, though we may see Kratz more than Schneider since the lineup is mostly comprised of left-handed hitters these days.
Previously Ruiz was diagnosed with plantar fascitis, inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot. At this time it is unlear if that was a misdiagnosis, or he injured himself further after the fact.
