The Philadelphia Phillies have optioned left-handed relief pitchers Joe Savery and Jake Diekman to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to make room for the newly acquired outfielder Nate Schierholtz and RHP Josh Lindblom.
Savery had a 5.40 ERA in 19 games for the Phillies this season (25.0 innings pitched). Jake Diekman threw slightly better, as he had a 4.64 ERA in 23 games for the Phillies (21.1 innings pitched).
Schierholtz had 5 home runs and 17 RBIs in 2012 for the San Francisco Giants in a platoon-role in the outfield (.257 batting average). Lindblom had a (2-2) win-loss record for the Dodgers, with a 3.02 ERA and 43 strikeouts.
