The Flyers have signed 22-year-old right winger Jakub Voracek to a 4-year contract worth 17 million according to CSN Philadelphia and the Czech sports news website, iSport.cz.
Voracek was a restricted free agent all summer until he signed the contract this morning. He is coming off of a 49 point season in which he had a career-high 18 goals. He is expected by the Flyers organization to fill the void on offense that Jagr left. Jake will most likely join all-stars Scott Hartnell and Claude Giroux on the top line. Many believe that he will be a solid player for many years to come in the Flyers organization.
His name has been tossed around in many of the trade rumors this summer and because he was not signed many believed that he would be moved. Jakub Voracek came to the Flyers as part of the deal that sent Jeff Carter to the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
Jake is just another one of the many young skilled players that the Flyers have on their starting roster. Signing him to a 4 year deal will allow him to grow with an already young team that should be a contender each year. Jakub Voracek and this young Flyers team have a bright future ahead of them.
