It's been noted since Spring Training that Cole Hamels wants a six-year contract wherever he goes. According to reports from FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Phillies are ready to give Hamels a six-year deal.

The reportedly proposed deal is reported to be worth more than San Francisco Giants Matt Cain's five-year deal worth $112.5MM. His deal included a sixth year option. With the sixth year added, the total of Cain's contract would be $127.5MM. It seems likely that the Phillies are in at Hamels at around six-years, $130MM for one of baseball's best lefthanders.

Hamels is 28 and if he does sign a six-year deal, he will be under contract until he is 34 years-old. A year younger than Roy Halladay and a year older than Cliff Lee are right now.  With the contract talks becoming more intense, the baseball world will be hearing a lot of Cole Hamels news within the next 48 hours.
