The rosters for the 83rd All-Star game have been unveiled and the Phillies have just three representatives.

Catcher Carlos Ruiz and pitchers Cole Hamels and Jonathan Papelbon have made the NL All-Star team. It is Carlos Ruiz's first All-Star team in his career, while Hamels has been named to his third (2007, 2011). This is Jonathan Papelbon's first call to the National League All-Star team, his fifth overall (2006-2009).

Giants catcher Buster Posey has been named the starter for the NL, which in my eyes is a crock of ****. Carlos Ruiz is batting .358, the best average in the league. Chooch has 11 home runs and 43 RBI compared to Posey's 10 home runs and 40 RBI.

As you can tell it was a total popularity contest and it's a shame that Ruiz isn't the starting catcher.

It is unknown who will be the starting pitcher, but I don't think it will be Hamels.

Here are their stats as of today, July 1st.

Carlos Ruiz: .358, 11 HR, 38 R, 43 RBI.

Cole Hamels: 10-4, 3.08 ERA, 111 K, 1.10 WHIP

Jonathan Papelbon: 2-2, 3.03 ERA, 18 SV, 38 K, 1.08 WHIP

Make us proud, boys.
