The Phillies have made an acquisition today by signing outfielder Jason Pridie to the club. Pridie, 28, was immediately optioned to Triple-A Lehigh where he will try to make the big league club.
Pridie hit .281 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 101 games last season for the Mets. Pridie elected free-agency at the end of last season and signed a minor-league deal with the Oakland Athletics that included an invitation to spring training. In the winter, Pridie was suspended for 50 games for violating baseball's substance abuse policy. He requested and received his release from the A's on June 4.
Pridie hasn't played a game all season and will most likely begin this weekend for the IronPigs.
