In this CBS Sports blog "Eye on Baseball" segment, Ozzie Guillen explained his typical postgame routine to C. Trent Rosencranz. Being highly emotional, maybe we should not be surprised:
“I get drunk because I'm happy we win or I get drunk because I'm very sad and disturbed because we lose. Same routine, it never changes. It's been the same routine for 25, 28 years. It doesn't change. I don't like to go out.”
Sheesh. Well, so far in two games Ozzie has drank twice because he was sad.
Guillen added that he is responsible about it:
“I never get in trouble, you see that? I never leave the hotel. Nobody can call my wife and tell her they see Ozzie in this bar or place. … If I got drunk and someone talked [smack] to me, there'd be a fight. I'm too little to fight…I can't. I might get killed.”
I hope his liver doesn't get killed.
The early schedule is not kind to the Miami Marlins, as their first five games played are at five different times.
Three of them are home openers: Wednesday in Miami, Thursday in Cincinnati, and Monday when the Phillies open. The Marlins had a one-game series against St. Louis to open the season before heading to Cincinnati. The only thing that made the one-game homestand easy enough was that both the Marlins and Cardinals train in nearby Jupiter, Florida.
