According to multiple sources, including Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Cole Hamels will miss his next scheduled start Friday with minor shoulder inflammation. Good news: There is no structural damage.

Additionally, Placido Polanco is going to postpone sports hernia surgery until after the season. He believes that, like Raul Ibanez in 2009, he can play through the pain. However, it is unlikely that Polly will be anywhere near 100% healthy until he has the surgery. He has struggled since the first two months of the season battling injuries, and his offensive performance has suffered as a result. Polanco will likely land on the DL, retroactive 10 days, and return early next week.

With the extra days off Sunday and Monday, Roy Oswalt is expected to make Friday's start in place of Hamels on regular rest.
