Interleague play began today in the wonderful world of Major League Baseball, and the Phillies kicked off the schedule with game one of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers (0-3 at CBP) at home. Roy Halladay, who has pitched three complete games in his last four starts took the mound tonight. Doc has a career 5.36 earned run average against the Rangers. C.J. Wilson took the mound for the Rangers, but has only appeared as a relief pitcher in Philadelphia in his career. In two games at CBP, he's tossed two innings allowing three hits, and has a 4.50 earned run average.

It was the Rangers who would score first in this game, Elvis Andrus stole home after Doc struck out Ian Kinsler. 1-0 Rangers.

After four straight Phillies struckout, C.J. Wilson walked Raul Ibanez, then allowed a two-run home run to Ben Francisco to left field in the second inning. 2-1 Phillies.

In the fourth, Raul Ibanez got a hold of a fastball and shot it back to center field. Get this, it was the first home run that Wilson has given up against a left-handed batter since Chin-Soo Choo on June 3, 2008. Crazy stuff. 3-1 Phillies.

After seven innings, C.J. Wilson was done. He gave up three runs on four hits, walking two, and striking out 10. Rollins, Valdez, Mayberry, and Doc all struck out twice, while Polanco and Howard struck out once. That left Howard 0 for his last 23.

In the eighth inning, Mitch Moreland grounded out to score Endy Chavez, 3-2 Phillies. Roy Halladay was done after eight innings. He tossed 116 pitches, 81 for strikes. He allowed two earned runs on six hits, walking one and striking out seven.

Ryan Madson closed it out, striking out two, and Chooch ended the game gunning down David Murphy at second. Phillies win, 3-2, Roy Halladay is now 6-3, and Ryan Madson saved his eighth game. Cliff Lee against Colby Lewis tomorrow.
