Flyers Call Up Morgan Frost, Twarynski Sent Down
By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor
The Flyers have not been shy about giving opportunities to young players. Look no further than 19-year-old Joel Farabee, who played just four games in the minors before being called up and has now played 14 games in the NHL.
Enter 20-year-old Morgan Frost, another first-round pick of the Flyers, who now gets his chance in the NHL. Frost has been called up by the Flyers and forward Carsen Twarynski has been sent down.
Frost has played the entire season in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, a total of 16 games. He has five goals and 12 points in that time.
Coupled with Farabee, Frost was among the most intriguing Flyers prospects entering training camp this season. Both players did not make the roster out of training camp despite being among the final cuts. Now, just 20 games into the Flyers season, both are here.
Frost will wear No. 48 and be available for Tuesday’s game in Florida. Assuming he is in the lineup, he will make his NHL debut.
Twarynski heads back to the AHL for the second time this season. After making the Flyers out of training camp, he was sent down for two games before being recalled again. He has just one goal at the NHL level this season and did not record a point in his two games in the AHL.
The Flyers have a pair of games on the road, facing Florida on Tuesday and Carolina on Thursday before returning home on Saturday.
