Sproles career would seem to be coming to a disappointing end after he appeared in just 15 regular season games over the past three years.
He managed just 176 total yards on the season.
Still, that was enough to move him past Tim Brown for fifth on the All-Time All-Purpose Yardage leaderboard.
Sproles spent six of his 14 seasons in Philadelphia, five in San Diego and three with New Orleans.
Though he spent more seasons here, he appeared in just 61 games for the Eagles while appearing in 78 games for Chargers and 44 for the Saints.
Despite all the injuries he suffered for half of his time in Philly, “The Mighty Mouse” managed more rushing yards in Philadelphia (1331) than he did with either of his other teams. The same goes for his punt returns where he managed 1355 yards and four touchdowns.
Sproles scored a total of 21 touchdowns with the Eagles.
In his absence, Boston Scott will figure to take over the punt returner role. If Sproles can impart any of his knowledge onto Scott, he will be in good shape to secure a roster spot going forward.
The Eagles brought in free agent running back Jay Ajayi for a workout Friday.
