Following two preseason games, the Flyers had Wednesday off from on-ice activity and used the day to start making some roster cuts.
The Flyers brought the roster down to 54 players with eight cuts on Wednesday. Defensemen Egor Zamula, Mason Millman, Wyatte Wylie and forward Egor Serdyuk were returned to their junior teams. Forwards Max Golod, Ben McCartney, Mika Cyr and defenseman Sean Comrie were released from their amateur tryouts.
These cuts were largely expected. These players, with the exception of Zamula, did not see preseason game action and were kept mainly to the rookie group that skated prior to veterans in training camp practices.
More cuts are expected this weekend as the Flyers send some players to the AHL ahead of the start of training camp for the Phantoms.
The Flyers are back on the ice on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. ahead of their preseason game against the Boston Bruins at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Center.
