When the Eagles started training camp, among the players missing after just one day were corner and fan favorite Cre’Von LeBlanc.
The fact that he was not at practice seemed to indicate a potential trade, one that would not be surprising. With a roster that contains Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, Avonte Maddox and Josh Hawkins, a trade of some depth to someone like the Jets and their new GM Joe Douglas should not be surprising. Not all the players can make the 53-man and it is better to recoup some draft picks rather than simply cut players.
But the Eagles said that his absence was injury related and it seems that that is indeed the case.
On Saturday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports reported that LeBlanc was at practice, but was wearing a boot, meaning the injury could be serious.
Just saw Cre’Von LeBlanc with a walking boot, using a roll-a-bout. Seems like the injury is a serious one. #Eagles

The news is not good for the Eagles, as Mills and Darby may miss time at the start of the season, too. That would leave just three or four corners that the team can count on.
It also sheds some light on the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reporting that the Eagles were hosting veteran CB Orlando Scandrick today.
The #Eagles are hosting veteran CB Orlando Scandrick on a visit today, source says. He recently worked out for the #Vikings. Former #Cowboys corner exploring a return to the NFC East.

Scandrick had a rough season after being cut from the Cowboys then the Redskins before settling in with the Chiefs. He most likely would not be a player the Eagles look to bring in to start, but he and Josh Hawkins could provide some veteran depth should the team be down three corners to start the season.
In 2018, Scandrick started seven games and appeared in 15 for the Chiefs while recording 44 tackles, 13 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one interception.
It would be interesting to see what the team would do should all three corners come back mid-season and the team is left with eight corners that they like. Or if the Eagles would be able to trade someone to help with that.
The Eagles also filled their open spot on the 90-man roster on Friday with corner Alex Brown. The team claimed him off waiver from the 49ers. He is an undrafted rookie out of South Carolina State University and will look to prove he can assist in the wake of injuries.
UPDATE: Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that LeBlanc suffered a foot sprain and should be ready to start the season, allowing the team four solid corners to start 2019.
Eagles CB Cre'von LeBlanc is out for the next several weeks while he deals with a foot sprain, source said. He was spotted in a boot today. No surgery required, so being ready for the start of the season is expected. This is one reason for the Orlando Scandrick interest.
