The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a one-year, partially guaranteed contract with Christ Koumadje on Friday afternoon, according to The Athletic's Michael Scotto.

Koumadje, a big man from Florida State, went undrafted in this year's NBA Draft before joining the 76ers in late June for the Summer League. He averaged 6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in just under 14 minutes per game in the Summer League. He showed that he possesses some key defensive skills, namely the ability to block shots, but otherwise has a very raw game on the court.

The big man from Chad, standing at 7-foot-4, still has a lot of developing to do on the court. During his senior year at Florida State, Koumadje averaged only 6.6 points per game. He didn't play many minutes in his four years in college, averaging 12.1 minutes per game.

The contract is an Exhibit 10, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Paul Hudrick. An Exhibit 10 contract allows the team to have the flexibility to turn the contract into a two-way deal. The 76ers currently have both of their designated two-way roster spots filled by Norvel Pelle and Marial Shayok. The team is most likely using this opportunity to get a good view of Koumadje during training camp while simultaneously preventing another team from signing him.

The likeliest outcome of this signing is that Koumadje impresses enough to receive a spot on the Delaware Blue Coats, the team's G League affiliate.

76ers' general manager Elton Brand had a vision of building a defensive juggernaut, and adding Koumadje might prove to be another small step in turning that vision into reality.

If Koumadje ends up making the team, he won't have a consistent spot in the rotation, but adding him to the roster provides practically no negatives. He is a big man with a lot of defensive potential who, if given the time to develop, might be able to turn into a solid role player off the bench.

The 76ers are giving Koumadje an opportunity to earn a spot on the team's roster in training camp, which is all that the big man can ask for at this point.
