When free agency came and went with little activity from the Flyers, the impression was that a young prospect would get a chance to make the team when camp opens in September. Nicolas Aube-Kubel got a taste of the NHL last season and figures to be in the mix again this preseason.

Aube-Kubel was a restricted free agent this offseason and has re-signed with the Flyers on a one-year, two-way deal worth $700,000, GM Chuck Fletcher announced on Tuesday.

Aube-Kubel, 23, was a 2014 second-round pick of the Flyers and made his NHL debut last October. He played in nine games with the Flyers last season, with no points in that time.

In the AHL with the Phantoms last season, Aube-Kubel had 16 goals and 30 points. In his three seasons with the Phantoms, Aube-Kubel has scored 45 goals and 97 points in 203 games.

With the signing of Aube-Kubel, the Flyers have two remaining restricted free agents to sign: Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny.
