The 76ers are planning on interviewing Avery Johnson to replace Monty Williams on their coaching staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Williams took the head coaching job in Phoenix earlier this spring and now Brett Brown, Elton Brand, and the Sixers are looking for a replacement.

Johnson was most recently employed as the head coach at Alabama. Under his command the Tide went 75-62 including a ticket to the big dance in 2017-2018.

As an NBA coach, Johnson has a record of 254-186 between seven seasons as a head coach. Johnson had one of his best years as a coach in ’05-’06 as the leader of the Dallas Mavericks. That year, Johnson won coach of the year while leading the Mavs to a 60-22 record and being Western Conference Champions.
