By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor Hart Lifts Flyers to Another Win Over Detroit

On Saturday, Carter Hart allowed five goals to the Red Wings, including four in the third period, the most he had allowed in his young career. Sunday marked the first time he got back-to-back starts, and he bounced back in a big way.

For the second straight game, the Red Wings fired 38 shots Hart's way. This time, Hart made 37 saves, leading the Flyers in a 3-1 win over Detroit.

The Flyers were limited in the first period, as Detroit peppered the Flyers net with shots, 14 in all, each stopped by Hart.

A good breakout set up a scoring chance and the first goal of the game at 15:48. Sean Couturier carried the puck into the zone and drove toward the net. His centering pass was tipped by Oskar Lindblom and hit off the skate of Nick Jensen and went in past Jonathan Bernier to make it 1-0.

Bernier exited the game after the first period with an injury, so Jimmy Howard was back in net. Howard saw just nine shots in the second period.

The Red Wings finally solved Hart at 14:49. A shot by Niklas Kronwall left a rebound and it fell in behind Hart. Darren Helm was there to put it home and tie the game at one.

Just over two minutes into the third, the Flyers got the go-ahead goal. Phil Myers, making his NHL debut, pinched and kept the play alive to Travis Konecny. Konecny pushed it behind the net to James van Riemsdyk. van Riemsdyk cycled it out to Phil Varone, who tipped it to Ivan Provorov. Provorov's blast found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season.

The rest of the night was all Hart. Hart made 12 saves in the third period, including a few stops on a power play for Detroit.

With 1:26 to play, Lindblom scored his second of the night into an empty net.

Lindblom and Couturier each had two-point games. Hart finished with 37 saves on 38 shots. Howard made 12 saves on 13 shots. Bernier stopped nine of 10 shots.

The Flyers return home to face the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
