In the hours before Saturday's game against Anaheim, the Flyers were already busy.

GM Chuck Fletcher announced a trade that sent forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin to the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman David Schlemko and forward Byron Froese on Saturday morning.

The Flyers are retaining 19 percent of Folin's salary in the deal.

Schlemko has played in 18 games this season with two assists. He also spent eight games in the AHL, scoring one goal and adding three assists. Schlemko, 31, has played 11 seasons in the NHL with 415 total games played in his career. He has recorded 94 points, including 18 goals.

Froese, 27, was the captain of Montreal's AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, and had 30 points this season in 46 games, including a team-leading 14 goals. Last season, Froese played in 48 games for the Canadiens, scoring three goals and adding eight assists for 11 points. He has played over parts of three NHL seasons with 110 career games played and a total of 16 points.

Weise's time in Philadelphia was running out after the team told him to stay home from a road trip to Montreal before the All-Star break after the forward had cleared waivers. Weise did play a few games with the Phantoms during this time, but it was clear he was no longer part of the Flyers plans. Weise had 17 goals and 34 points in 152 games with the Flyers.

Folin, an offseason signing last July, played in 26 games this season and recorded two assists.

Rumors were floating around on Saturday morning that a call-up for prospect defenseman Phil Myers was coming soon, possibly as soon as this afternoon. A delay will prevent the defenseman from making his NHL debut on Saturday, but all signs point to an official call-up in the next day or two.

The Flyers take on the Anaheim Ducks this afternoon at 1 p.m.
