With "Truck Day" on Friday and pitchers and catchers due to report to Clearwater, Florida, next week, spring training is right around the corner. On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Phillies announced eight of their alumni that will participate this spring training as guest instructors. The group consists of the following members of the 1980 and 2008 World Series championship, and 1993 National League championship:
Bobby Abreu, Chad Durbin, Jim Eisenreich, Dan Plesac, Jimmy Rollins and Mike Schmidt. Former club managers and now front office executives — Larry Bowa and Charlie Manuel — will also be in uniform "for the entirety of spring training," according to the Phillies.

Rollins recently joined the Phillies as a special advisor; Abreu — who is up for Hall of Fame consideration in 2020 — is among the names on the current ballot to choose the club's 2019 Wall of Fame honoree.
The Phillies' first workout for pitchers and catchers will take place next Wednesday, February 13. The first full-squad workout is set for the following Monday, February 18.
