Phillies Notes: Blanco, Florimon, Galvis, Joseph

February is just days away, which means spring training and regular season baseball will soon follow. Many former Philadelphia Phillies continue to find themselves 2019 roles within the game, even shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who was announced as the club's new special advisor on Tuesday.

Two of Rollins' former teammates with the Phillies — Andres Blanco, and Freddy Galvis, along other former Phillies in Pedro Florimon and Tommy Joseph — also recently made the headlines.

Blanco, 34, and Florimon, 32, were announced on Tuesday as among six of the Atlanta Braves' non-roster invitee infielders for this spring training. Blanco slashed .257/.32/.422 from 2014-2017 with the Phillies, with 46 doubles, four triples, 15 home runs and 62 RBI over 301 games. In 65 games from 2017-2018, Florimon slashed .274/.320/.444 in red pinstripes with 10 doubles, a pair of triples and home runs, and 11 RBI.

Galvis, 29, inked a one-year, $5 million contract with a $5.5 million club option for 2020 with the Toronto Blue Jays. Galvis slashed .245/.287/.372 with the Phillies from 2012-2017; the Venezuela native has played 162 games in each of the last two seasons, including 2018 with the San Diego Padres in which he slugged a career-best 31 doubles.

Joseph, 27, continues to prepare for professional baseball in Korea after signing with the KBO's LG Twins in late November. Joseph played 249 games with the Phillies from 2016-2017, and produced 42 doubles, 43 home runs and 116 RBI over 880 plate appearances. The Phoenix, Arizona, native is seen below, "honing his bat flip skill," notes The Athletic's Sung Min Kim.
