Three Phillies Prospects Place Among Baseball America’s Top 100 Ranking

While the Philadelphia Phillies are still eyeing to add players for the 2019 season through free agency and/or trade, their players, or prospects, of tomorrow themselves are gaining considerable attention.

On Wednesday, the highly respected and read Baseball America ranked Major League Baseball's top 100 prospects. Three Phillies prospects made the cut: right-hander Sixto Sanchez (13), along with infielders Alec Bohm (65) and Luis Garcia (88).

Sanchez, 20, appeared in just eight games this past season with the Clearwater Threshers due to injury. Over 46 2/3 innings, Sanchez went 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA and 45-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Sanchez was slated to appear in the Arizona Fall League, however he was pulled due to still recovering from right elbow inflammation.

Bohm, 22, posted a .252/.335/.324 combined slash in his first professional season in 2018, slugging for six doubles, a pair of home runs and 17 RBI spanning 40 games and 158 plate appearances. Bohm was drafted third overall in the first round of last June's draft. Bohm played for the GCL Phillies East and West, as well as the Williamsport Crosscutters.

Garcia, 18, is coming off of an impressive .369/.433/.488 slash performance in his first professional season with GCL Phillies West. The San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, native produced 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 32 RBI and 15 walks over 43 games and 187 plate appearances.

Sanchez, Bohm and Garcia finished in similar ranking order for Baseball America's Phillies-specific Top 10 prospects list. RHP Adonis Medina, OF Adam Haseley, LHP JoJo Romero, RHP Enyel De Los Santos, RHP Spencer Howard, LHP Ranger Suarez and RHP Francisco Morales followed.

MLB Pipeline ranked Sanchez, Bohm and Garcia as the Phillies' best, second-best, and 14th-best prospects for the 2018 season. An updated list will be announced next month.
