Free agent superstar infielder Manny Machado's three-city, four-day free agent tour concluded on Thursday in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia.
And while the 26-year-old's decision as to where he will sign still remains in question, perhaps the four-time All-Star's recent social media activity sheds some possible light.
As of Thursday evening, Machado's most recent follow shown on Instagram is newly acquired Philadelphia Phillies shortstop, Jean Segura.
Last month, fellow Phillies free agent superstar target Bryce Harper followed Sixers star Joel Embiid and Phillies outfielder Rhys Hoskins on the platform. Machado's follow of Segura is intriguing; he has long expressed his interest to play shortstop, however the Phillies acquired Segura to play the position while trading away their former top prospect (of the same position) to land him, J.P. Crawford.
Many Phillies officials were on hand Thursday to greet and talk with Machado, his agent, wife and others on a potential deal. Phillies Managing Partner John Middleton, who has been heavily involved in the club's "star-hunting" process, was among the attendees. Time will only tell if Machado will don red pinstripes in 2019 and beyond.
