The Philadelphia Phillies added to their organization's infield depth on Tuesday, signing utility player/infielder Phil Gosselin to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Jim Salisbury.
Gosselin was the final out to seal Cole Hamels, Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and Jonathan Papelbon's combined no-hitter of the Atlanta Braves on Sept. 1, 2014.
Gosselin, 30, is a six-year veteran that has played with six different clubs since debuting in 2013: Atlanta Braves (2013-15), Arizona Diamondbacks (2015-16), Pittsburgh Pirates (2017), Texas Rangers (2017) and Cincinnati Reds (2018). Through 276 career games, Gosselin has slashed .263/.314/.361 with 27 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 35 RBI, 36 walks and 111 strikeouts spanning 579 plate appearances.
The Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, native and Malvern Prep High School alumnus has played all but two non-pitching positions in the field throughout his career: center field and catcher. Gosselin has committed just nine errors spanning 881 1/3 innings and 406 chances.
