Philadelphia Phillies franchise great — recently retired first baseman Ryan Howard — sure spent the 10-year anniversary of the 2008 World Series-clinching Game 5 (part one) in a “magical” way.
The Howard family celebrated on Saturday the birthdays of their two daughters — Ariana and Alexandria — at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Howard, shown below, is riding shotgun in the Tommorowland Speedway with Ariana.
Howard, 38, officially announced his retirement on Tuesday, Sept. 4, after a 13-year Major League career. In 1,572 career games, Howard slashed .258/.343/.515 with 1,475 hits, 382 home runs and 848 runs scored in 6,531 plate appearances. Howard finished first in Phillies franchise history in games played at first base (1,478), second in home runs (382) and RBI (1,194), third in extra-base hits (680), fifth in total bases (2,940) and 10th in doubles (277). The slugger has recently found his way into the business industry through partnering with SeventySix Capital, a sports technology firm led by Wayne Kimmel and Jon Powell.
For what it’s worth, Howard rode the Tomorrowland Speedway in the nick of time. The attraction will be closed for a considerable amount of time — starting January 2, 2019 — while its track is rerouted and the TRON roller coaster is constructed next to Space Mountain.
