At 2-3, the Philadelphia Eagles have a lot to work on before they face the New York Giants on Thursday. As if their work wasn't already cut out for them, the team was dealt a big blow on Monday as Jay Ajayi was placed on injured reserved. The 25-year-old will reportedly miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

For a guy with a history of knee injuries, this isn't good news for Ajayi. With free agency on the horizon at the end of the year, Ajayi was out to prove that he could stay healthy and contribute. Unfortunately, he will not get that chance as the game against the Vikings could very well have been his last in an Eagles uniform. Ajayi rushed for 184 and three touchdowns on 45 carries this season.

The Eagles are already thin at running back. Corey Clement hasn't played the last two games with a quad injury and Darren Sproles has been nursing a hamstring issue since week one. As it stands, Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams are the only healthy running backs for Philadelphia.

With Ajayi shelved for the rest of the season, one has to wonder if Howie Roseman gives the Steelers a call to inquire about Le'Veon Bell.
