With the San Francisco Giants reeling as of late, dropping seven of their last 10 games, the team could very well be positioned to be sellers at Tuesday afternoon's Trade Deadline.
According to MLB Network's Jon Paul Morosi, Giants OF Andrew McCutchen has been the subject of recent trade rumors as of early Monday morning, with connecting teams in both the Indians and Phillies, who both missed out on Adam Jones, who decided he was going to stay in Baltimore.
" I was told by a source this morning that because of the uncertainty surrounding him (Johnny Cueto), the Giants are willing now to entertain some offers for at least some of their veteran players, namely Andrew McCutchen.
I was told actually this morning there is now some activity on McCutchen. The Cleveland Indians, they have been linked to him, actually in different times in recent years, and maybe if Adam Jones isn't going anywhere, McCutchen could be a good fit for the Indians to play either some center or some right.
We saw that report of Adam Jones potentially rejecting that trade to the Phillies. That's one more possibility for McCutchen.
Again, Phillies or Indians for Andrew. Two possibilities here in the final days of the Trade Deadline."
McCutchen has had a decent year for the struggling Giants, his first season with the team since his trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 31-year-old is slashing .253/.348/.405 with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs, and has a .753 OPS. Though his numbers are way down since he won NL MVP in 2013, he still provides a pop and a glove for the Phillies especially if they still are looking to upgrade in right field for a likely postseason push.
As of Monday, the Phillies are still in the hunt for a couple of players, Morosi also reporting in the same clip for MLB.com that they are in the hunt for Marlins reliever Brad Ziegler. The Phillies were connected with Mets lefty Zack Wheeler as of Monday morning.
