When the postseason-contending Philadelphia Phillies play their 120th game of the season in the August 16 doubleheader opener against the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park, the only way for non-attending fans to watch will be on a Facebook-exclusive stream.
Major League Baseball selected the game to be streamed on the social media platform on Thursday, according to NYM.news' Michael Baron.
The Phillies previously appeared on Facebook on April 4 (at Mets), April 26 (vs. Arizona Diamondbacks) and May 10 (vs. San Francisco Giants). The Phillies went 1-2 in those games, winning their most recent Facebook appearance thanks to Carlos Santana's three-run home run and Seranthony Dominguez's first-career hold.
The first-ever Major League Baseball Facebook-exclusive streamed game between the Phillies and Mets on April 4 generated 4.3 million views of at least 3 seconds, 1.1 million reactions and over 68,000 comments, according to Brad Adgate.
