Report: Markelle Fultz will not play in Summer League

Well, we all saw this news coming. According to Jon Johnson of SportsRadio 94 WIP, Sixers guard Markelle Fultz will not participate in the Las Vegas Summer League this year. He instead will continue to work on his shot with renowned NBA skills coach Drew Hanlen.

It's not a surprise that Fultz is withdrawing himself from Summer League, which is set to begin July 6. Fultz has been working with Hanlen all offseason in preparation for the upcoming basketball season, where he hopes to have a shot that will allow him to play more than 13 games.

From a basketball standpoint, Fultz could benefit playing in a game scenario in the Summer League, but from a rehabilitation standpoint, he's also making a decision that might be the best for his recovery.

Johnson also said that the Sixers "are aware" of Fultz's decision and are "monitoring Fultz working with Hanlen."

The Sixers have yet to release an official Summer League roster, as Zhaire Smith, Landry Shamet, and Shake Milton are the only guarantees to play. Expect to see the Sixers sign a bunch of free agent this week for the Summer League roster.
