The Sixers are a game away from getting swept out of the playoffs by the Celtics and they could also be in a position to lose their assistant coach to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks are looking for their successor to Mike Budenholzer, who mutually parted ways with the organization after five seasons as head coach including a stint as the team's General Manager.
Lloyd Pierce has been the assistant coach of the Sixers since 2013, serving in an important capacity to Brett Brown and the coaching staff, including the head coach of the Sixers' Summer League team.
The impending meeting with the Hawks' ownership comes just days after a successful first interview with GM Travis Schlenk on Friday.

League sources have said that the ownership of the team has been impressed with the way Pierce has coached during the Sixers' rebuild as well as serving in player development. The Hawks, like the Sixers were, are going to be in the midst of a complete rebuild in the coming seasons.
Though the Hawks still have Charlotte assistant Stephen Silas and Portland assistant Nate Tibbetts on their list of possible head coaching hires, it seems that Pierce has emerged as the front-runner for the job over the weekend.
Gaining a coach like Pierce to take over a team is an extremely large asset, as he has proven to be a big key to the Sixers' success this season in the way he has helped in the development of the younger players.
