According to reports, the former Philadelphia 76er will be taking his rightful place as the Head Coach of the Temple University Owls….in 2019.

Aaron McKie, who played for John Chaney's Owls from 1991 to 1994, will take over the lead when legendary coach Fran Dunphy steps down following next season.

McKie scored 1,650 career points with the Owls, averaged 17.9 points and led Temple to the Elite Eight in 1993.

Notably, he was a key member of the 2001 Sixers team that won the Eastern Conference and went on to the NBA Finals under the direction of Larry Brown with Allen Iverson at the helm.

He later became a coach, joining the Sixers coaching staff from 2008 to 2013. He then joined Temple's staff after that under Dunphy, coaching for his alma mater.

After a long 15-year NBA career, followed by 11 years as an assistant coach, McKie will finally get his chance to be a Head Coach in 2019.

McKie becomes just the fifth head coach in Temple history since 1958. The Owls haven't reached a Sweet Sixteen or Elite 8 since 2001.
