Stars Down Flyers in Overtime

By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

The Flyers have earned points in six straight games, but for the third time in the last four games, came away without the second.

A 2-on-0 just 40 seconds into overtime gave Dallas the win as Tyler Seguin fed Alexander Radulov for the game-winning goal, snapping an eight-game losing streak and sending the Flyers to a 3-2 loss on Tuesday night.

The Stars dominated the first 10 minutes of the game and turned that into a lead shortly after. Radek Faksa was able to take a friendly bounce off the endboards and backhand it off Petr Mrazek's skate and in to make it 1-0 Dallas.

The Flyers answered late in the period as Travis Konecny finished a dominant shift with a wrister that beat Kari Lehtonen to tie the game.

Through 20 minutes, the Flyers had an 11-10 lead in shots.

The Flyers started the second period stronger and used that to get the lead. Ivan Provorov took a pass from Wayne Simmonds in the slot and went upstairs on Lehtonen for his 14th goal of the season to put the Flyers in front at 2:03.

Midway through the period, Dallas got a power play on a delay-of-game penalty to Andrew MacDonald and struck almost immediately. Radulov threw a pass toward the net that was deflected by Brett Ritchie to tie the game at two.

The Flyers outshot the Stars, 8-5, in the second and kept the pressure on in the third, outshooting Dallas, 14-6.

The Flyers also had a power play in the third, but their struggles on the man advantage continued.

The game went to overtime and in the 3-on-3, the Flyers were caught on a mistake early.

The Flyers tried to get a rush in transition and nearly had numbers as Jake Voracek tried to chip a centering pass to Shayne Gostisbehere. The puck went toward the Dallas goal, and never reached the Flyers defenseman.

The Flyers were now caught with their defenseman up on the play and in the middle of a line changes, and that allowed John Klingberg to gain control and throw a stretch pass to Seguin behind the defense with Radulov right there with him. Seguin passed across to Radulov who buried the feed into an open net for the winner.

Mrazek made 20 saves on 23 shots in the loss. Lehtonen stopped 31 of 33 shots by the Flyers.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Wednesday night as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. Game time is set for 10 p.m.
