Shortly after the Philadelphia Phillies secured their fourth win on Monday with a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins at Spectrum Field, the club announced their first cuts of the spring.
Right-hander Drew Anderson was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, while two non-roster invitees, catcher Edgar Cabral and right-hander J.D. Hammer, were reassigned to minor league camp.
Anderson, 23, allowed two runs (one earned) through four innings and two relief appearances this spring, while striking out three batters. The Reno, Nevada native struggled through 2 1/3 innings last season in the majors, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits, a walk and two strikeouts.
Cabral, 22, hit .667/.750/1.000 this spring with a double in three at-bats, while Hammer, 23, did not appear in relief.

Cabral combined to play 91 games last season between the Lakewood BlueClaws and Clearwater Threshers, batting .260/.332/.357 with 17 doubles, four home runs and 26 RBIs in 358 plate appearances.
Hammer, the Phillies' No. 29-ranked prospect, was acquired from the Colorado Rockies on July 26, along with right-hander Alejandro Requena and infielder Jose Gomez, in exchange for All-Star RHP Pat Neshek. Neshek returned to the Phillies this offseason by signing to a two-year, $16.25 million deal on Dec. 13.
All three moves shrink the camp roster to 60, with 21 non-roster invitees and 39 from the 40-man roster.
The Phillies will kick off the regular season away against the Atlanta Braves on March 29.
