Report: Eagles expected to release Vinny Curry (maybe)

Happy one month Super Bowl victory anniversary, folks! Now, to some upsetting news…

Over the coming weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles will need to make some tough decisions to free up cap space heading into the draft and free agency. One of the expected cuts, but one no one really wants to see happen could become a reality soon. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Eagles had planned to part ways with defensive end Vinny Curry. 

Not so fast, though. It turns out that the Eagles are in talks to try and retain Curry and that a trade could still be on the table

Update on the #Eagles and DE Vinny Curry after talking with a team official: They are currently in negotiations to try to keep Vinny Curry at a different salary. Teams are also interested in potential trading for him. It sounds like nothing is quite done yet.

Releasing Curry will save the Eagles approximately $5 million in cap space. They have until March 18 to do so.

Curry, 29, was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2012 draft out of Marshall. This season for Philadelphia, he started in all 16 games and had the best year of his career, tallying 25 total tackles, 17 assists and a forced fumble. Curry's 47 pressures on the season were fourth on the team, despite only playing 55.9 percent of the snaps. He had five tackles in the postseason.
