NFL Free Agency: Birds Bring Back Patrick Johnson

The Eagles have signed a one-year deal to bring back Patrick Johnson.
Andrew DiCecco reports that it was Johnson who really wanted to return to the Eagles.
The #Eagles have signed LB Patrick Johnson to a 1-year deal, a source confirms. @DMRussini first.
It’s my understanding that Johnson wanted to make this happen. Johnson had a strong summer.

Johnson was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2021 draft.
He appeared in 49 games for the Eagles over parts of the last four seasons, but was cut from the practice squad in September and picked up by the Giants.
Since he was on his rookie deal, he didn’t get a choice where he went at that point, but Philadelphia seems to be where he’d like to be.
Johnson has appeared a likely breakout candidate several times as he’s provided some valuable depth when needed so it certainly isn’t a bad signing for the Eagles.
Johnson, meanwhile, will get to spend his second camp in a row working with Vic Fangio to look to earn that spot in the rotation.
