Brandon Graham, Super Bowl LIX

It was expected and now it’s official.

As he mentioned several times over the past few years, 2024 was going to be Brandon Graham’s last in the league and he winds up going out on top as a champion.

Graham entered the press room and shook everyone’s hand before giving an emotional speech to announce his retirement on Tuesday.

He thanked many in the organization, former teammates like Trent Cole, Jason Peters, Lane Johnson, Fletcher Cox, and Jason Kelce, the city, and even the reporters while also implying that, he might not have retired or would have had a far more difficult time with the decision.

Graham’s tenure in Philly got off to a bit of a rocky start as the team took him high in the first round and while he made some plays, he didn’t necessarily come out of the gate playing at that level – fans didn’t see him the way they do today.

He nearly joined the Giants for the 2015 seasons, but took a four-year deal to remain with the Eagles. That paid off for both parties as it was Jim Schwartz in 2016 that really turned Graham into a game wrecker that other teams had to plan for with a move full-time to defensive end.

Of course, Graham has signed three additional contracts since then and was the key player who forced a fumble in Super Bowl LII to secure the team’s first ever Super Bowl championship. Then he was the veteran presence in the locker room as he made his way back for a second title last season.

Overall, Graham recorded 82 sacks, 508 tackles, 24 forced fumbles, and 24 recoveries (including playoffs) for the Eagles over his 15 years with the team.

Known for his constant trash talking, Graham outlasted his fellow key teammates Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, which makes him the all-time team leader in games played for the franchise at 206 games.

The Eagles have added two pass rushers via free agency in addition to the return of Patrick Johnson, so it certainly seemed like the Eagles were expecting this to come to fruition.

It would not be a surprise to see the Eagles hire Graham to a front office capacity, perhaps for a role like fan relations as Graham is extremely outgoing and friendly.
